Join a team in Portsmouth, OH (45662) for a locum tenens opportunity covering both inpatient and outpatient anesthesia care. This clinical-only assignment runs from June 1, 2026 to July 3, 2026, with three specific coverage blocks: June 1–5, June 22–26, and June 29–July 3. The role supports an implementation effort; travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided by the agency.

What you’ll be working with

  • Facility EMR: MediTech
  • No hospital or temporary privileges are required/available through the facility for this assignment.

Scope of practice — what we need you to do

  • Provide comprehensive anesthesia for adult and pediatric surgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Perform pre-operative evaluations and manage ventilation and hemodynamic/volume issues during cases.
  • Deliver general, spinal, epidural, and regional anesthesia, including post-op epidurals and extremity blocks.
  • Manage obstetrical cases, open-heart anesthesia, non–open-heart thoracic cases, complex vascular and orthopedic procedures.
  • Use x‑ray guidance for interventional pain procedures (transforaminal, lumbar, cervical) and perform epidural steroid injections.
  • Place invasive lines as needed: central lines, arterial lines, and pulmonary artery (PA) catheters.
  • Supervise CRNAs and oversee anesthesia care delivery.

Preferred additional skills

  • Background in pain management techniques is a plus.

Requirements

  • Board certified in Anesthesiology (BC required)
  • Hold or obtain an active Ohio medical license

Key responsibilities (summary)

  • Deliver safe, patient-centered anesthesia care across a broad surgical mix.
  • Conduct pre-op assessments and post-op management, including regional block care.
  • Provide CRNA supervision and collaborate with surgical teams to manage complex cases and intraoperative hemodynamics.
