Locum Pediatrician — 24Hour Call, Level I Newborn Nursery (Travel/Lodging & Malpractice Covered)

Locum tenens opportunity in Enterprise, AL (36330) covering inpatient pediatric call only. Coverage dates: Jun 26–28, 2026. Shift: 24-hour pager call (beeper), 1:1 call ratio with a 30-minute response expectation. Agency covers travel, lodging, and malpractice. Reason for coverage: vacation.

Clinical scope

• Provide pediatric coverage for a local practice with emphasis on births and newborn care.
• Manage newborns in a Level I nursery, perform stabilization for infants requiring higher-level care prior to transfer, and complete infrequent admissions.
• Typical volume: 0–5 patients/day; approximately 5 admissions over the coverage period. Expect 2–5 phone consults daily. Rounding focused on assigned patients. Case mix: newborns.

• Facility: Level I nursery
• EMR: Medhost
• Temporary hospital privileges available; permanent hospital privileges not required.

Required skills & procedures

• Newborn and pediatric care, neonatal non-invasive ventilation (neo-puff), neonatal and pediatric ventilation management, endotracheal/nasotracheal intubation.
• Central and arterial line placement, UVC/UAC, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, needle decompression/pneumothorax management.
• Conscious and deep sedation, exchange transfusion, minor laceration suturing, circumcision, swallow studies.
• Interpretation of X-rays and EKGs; PA catheter experience.

Qualifications

• Board eligible in Pediatrics.
• Must hold an Alabama medical license or be eligible under the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
