Requirements

• Current, active LPN license for the state of New Mexico
• BLS certification

Core Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per RN/physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital sign monitoring
• Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and per protocol
• Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds/incisions for signs of infection or complications
• Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and changes in condition
• Maintain accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and medication administration
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive measures
• Initiate, administer, and monitor IV medications/fluids; ensure IV line integrity
• Provide catheter care, including insertion, maintenance, and complication monitoring
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care
• Provide basic comfort and safety measures (positioning, mobility assistance, pain management)
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support as needed
• Follow infection control practices and proper use of PPE
• Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to regulations
• Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and participate in health assessments
• Advocate for patient rights and needs within the care team
• Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned
• Complete continuing education and maintain current nursing practices
• Other duties as assigned by management
