We’re seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a correctional healthcare team in Waupun, WI, on a locum tenens basis. This is a full-time, 26-week assignment starting ASAP, with a typical shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Compensation is $80/hour.
You’ll be responsible for comprehensive patient care for persons in custody — performing physical exams, assessing and diagnosing conditions, prescribing and monitoring medications, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. You’ll manage preventive, acute, and chronic illnesses, keep precise documentation in the electronic medical record, and participate in quality improvement, staff education, and patient teaching. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support the Department of Corrections’ Reentry and evidence-based care initiatives is an important part of the role.
To be considered, you must hold an active Wisconsin RN license and Nurse Practitioner certification with prescriptive authority, plus a current DEA registration and BLS certification. We’re looking for clinicians who are comfortable working independently in a correctional setting, who have strong knowledge of advanced nursing theory, pharmacology, diagnostics, and correctional healthcare practices, and who can respond effectively in emergency situations while managing a diverse caseload.
