Required credentials:

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
• BLS certification

Core responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and routine assessments.
• Perform focused patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and participate in care plan implementation.
• Administer medications and treatments per orders; ensure correct dosing and documentation.
• Manage wounds/incisions: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
• Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care.
• Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids; ensure proper IV line insertion and function.
• Provide catheter care: insertion, maintenance, and complication monitoring.
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing.
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
• Attend to patient comfort, mobility assistance, positioning, and pain management.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support as needed.
• Follow infection control protocols and proper use of PPE.
• Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to regulations.
• Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and assist with health assessments.
• Advocate for patient rights and needs.
• Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
• Complete other duties as assigned by management.
