We’re seeking a dedicated hospitalist/nocturnist to join a community hospital team in Bristol, TN, starting August 1, 2026, with ongoing coverage. This is a locum tenens, clinical-only role staffed as 12-hour shifts (day 8a–8p and night 8p–8a).
What you’ll be doing
- Provide inpatient hospitalist/nocturnist coverage for adult and geriatric patients.
- Admit patients, perform daily rounding, and manage acute inpatient medical care.
- Work closely with NP/PAs and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in Epic.
- Supervise NPs and PAs as part of routine responsibilities.
Facility and team
- Community hospital in Bristol, TN with 263 acute care beds, including 38 ICU beds.
- EMR: Epic.
- Support: dedicated NP/PA admitter; day team typically includes 4 MDs and 2 NPs; night coverage includes 1 MD.
- Specialty backup available through multidisciplinary inpatient teams.
- Standard inpatient hospital equipment provided.
Schedule and patient mix
- 12-hour shifts (8a–8p and 8p–8a).
- Adults and geriatrics; general hospitalist medicine case mix.
- Admissions and rounding are part of the assignment; patient volume/census to be determined.
Privileges, credentialing, and logistics
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges/credentialing timeline to be determined.
- Travel, lodging, malpractice, and rate details to be determined.
Required qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Tennessee medical license.
- Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine accepted.
- Active DEA with Tennessee address, authorized for schedules II (including II-N), III (including III-N), IV, and V.
- ACLS certification.
- Completion of residency training; fellowship preferred.
- ECFMG certification required for international medical graduates.
- Case logs from the past 2 years required.
- Current immunizations and TB screening; mask fitting required.
- Telehealth experience not required.
Procedures and expectations
- Inpatient admissions, rounding, and acute medical management.
- General hospitalist coverage with a focus on high-quality, patient-centered inpatient care.
