On-Call Police Psychologist — Honolulu (Contract, 24/7 Critical Incident Response)

We’re looking for a licensed psychologist to provide on-call psychological services for the Honolulu Police Department. In this role you’ll support officers and staff with timely assessments, emergency interventions, critical-incident response, consultation, and debriefings—delivered both in person and remotely as needed. Your work will help maintain the mental health and operational readiness of HPD personnel during routine and high-stress situations.

What you’ll be doing

• Be available 24/7 to respond when the HPD staff psychologist is unavailable.
• Respond to scenes of critical incidents and provide in-person support for group debriefings.
• Complete critical-incident debriefings within 48 hours for incidents involving death, and within 72 hours for incidents not involving death.
• Conduct emergency evaluations and MH-1 assessments for felony-related arrests or when the designated mental health emergency worker cannot be reached.
• Provide individual crisis intervention, short-term emergency support, and consultation to HPD administration and investigators.
• Offer expert consultation and, when requested, testimony in legal proceedings related to psychological matters.
• Deliver semi-annual usage reports detailing transaction date, City agency, items purchased, quantity, and amount.

Who we’re looking for

• Licensed to practice psychology in the State of Hawaii (active license required for independent practice).
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and responding promptly to urgent requests.
• Able to provide both on-site and remote services as situations dictate.
