Hospitalist / Nocturnist PhysicianChinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility – Chinle, Arizona
Position Type: Contract / 1099
Facility: Indian Health Service – Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility
Location: Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility
Schedule: Flexible coverage including daytime Hospitalist and overnight Nocturnist shifts
Contract Term: Initial 3-month base period with potential option extensions up to 2 years
Position Overview
Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility is seeking experienced and dedicated Hospitalist/Nocturnist Physicians to provide inpatient medical services within a high-acuity Indian Health Service facility serving the Navajo Nation. This is an opportunity to deliver meaningful care to an underserved population while working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team.
The selected providers will perform comprehensive inpatient medical services in accordance with Indian Health Service standards and facility requirements. Providers will function as independent contractors in a non-personal services environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient medical management for hospitalized adult patients

Perform admissions, evaluations, diagnoses, treatment planning, and discharge coordination

Manage acute and chronic medical conditions in the inpatient setting

Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations as needed

Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary departments

Complete accurate and timely electronic medical documentation
-
Participate in patient care coordination and quality improvement initiatives

Maintain compliance with all IHS, federal, and facility credentialing requirements
-
Adhere to professional standards of practice and patient confidentiality regulations
Minimum Qualifications
-
MD or DO from accredited institution
-
Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
-
Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
-
Active DEA registration
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
-
Minimum inpatient/hospitalist experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
-
Prior Hospitalist or Nocturnist experience
-
Previous Indian Health Service or rural healthcare experience
-
Experience working in underserved or tribal healthcare settings
-
Strong independent clinical decision-making skills
-
Familiarity with Cerner or comparable EMR systems
Contract Requirements
Providers must be able to meet all credentialing and compliance requirements outlined by the solicitation, including:

Active professional licensure and certifications

National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) report submission

Background investigation and security clearance requirements

Medical malpractice insurance coverage meeting federal contract standards
