We’re seeking an Interventional Radiology physician for locum tenens coverage in Grass Valley, CA. This is outpatient-focused clinical coverage with a weekday schedule of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM and required weekend on-call shifts. The assignment runs from July 10, 2026 through January 1, 2027, with the following coverage dates: July 10, 13–17, 27–31; August 3, 31 – September 4; October 2, 5–9; November 23–27, 30 – December 4; December 21–25, 28 – January 1.

What you’ll see and do

  • Provide interventional radiology coverage for adult patients, including interpretation of acute care imaging (Stroke CTs, ED and ICU studies).
  • Perform image-guided procedures such as lumbar punctures, thoracentesis, paracentesis, nephrostomy tube placement, intra-abdominal abscess drainage, chest tube placement, suprapubic catheter placement, and CT/ultrasound-guided biopsies (including thyroid and lung).
  • Cover outpatient imaging needs (contrasted CTs, MRIs, breast biopsies) and collaborate with radiology nurses, technologists, and the overflow Sacramento Radiology Group for reads as needed.

Facility and caseload snapshot

  • Setting: Outpatient clinic affiliated with hospital services in Grass Valley, CA.
  • EMR: Cerner.
  • On-site imaging: CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and interventional radiology procedural equipment.
  • Typical volume: ED sees 85–90 patients/day; average inpatient/observation census ~50; roughly 50 imaging studies/day and 4–6 IR procedures/day; admissions ~12–15/day.
  • Case mix includes surgical, medical, ICU, OB, stroke imaging, and IR cases.
  • Support: Diagnostic imaging nurses, radiology techs; Sacramento Radiology Group provides overflow and after-hours reads.
  • Reason for coverage: Radiologist resignation.

Qualifications

  • Active California medical license and active DEA registration.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Radiology.
  • BLS and California Fluoroscopy Permit required.
  • Acute care imaging and interventional radiology procedural experience required; residency training required.
  • Strong procedural skills and the ability to interpret stroke, ED, and ICU imaging studies.
  • Availability required at time of name clear.
