Join the team at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia, providing night-shift Emergency Department coverage through SCP Health - Locums. This locum tenens position starts Aug 1, 2026 and continues on an ongoing basis, covering 12-hour night shifts (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.). Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide primary coverage for the ED during night shifts
• Manage codes and rapid response events
• Offer tele-support for admissions and floor calls
• Complete a 3-month proctorship if you’re a recent graduate

Facility and patient context

• 26 acute care ED beds
• Epic as the EMR
• Rounding is not included

Requirements

• Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM), Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license
• Active DEA with a VA address and authorization for schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5
• ACLS required; ATLS and PALS required if not board-certified in EM or not EM trained; NRP required for non-ABEM providers
• Residency training in EM, FM, or IM; new EM residency graduates (within 12 months) may be considered
• Case logs for the last two years
• Preeclampsia CME/CEU required
• Hospital privileges required
