Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — 12-hr Shifts, Epic, Travel/Lodging Covered (Pennington Gap, VA)

We’re seeking a board-certified or board-eligible emergency physician to join Lee County Community Hospital in Pennington Gap, Virginia on a locum tenens basis starting Aug 1, 2026 and continuing ongoing. You’ll work 12-hour shifts in a small, community ED that sees roughly 12,000 patients a year. Travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage are provided.

What you’ll do:

• Provide emergency medical care and oversee patient flow for an annual ED volume of ~12,000.
• Work 12-hour clinical shifts and serve as the supervising physician for NPs and PAs on shift.
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and follow facility clinical and immunization documentation standards.

Facility and support:

• Lee County Community Hospital (SCP Health - Locums)
• EMR: Epic
• Mid-level support available (nurse practitioners and physician assistants)

Credentials we require:

• Board: ABEM, AOBEM, or ABMS in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Completed an ACGME/AOA-approved 3-year residency in EM, FM, or IM; new graduates require a 3-month proctorship.
• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license.
• Active DEA registered with a VA address, authorized for schedules II, IIN, III, IIIN, IV, and V.
• Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (NRP required for non-ABEM providers).
• Provide case logs from the past two years.
• Required health documentation: MMR and Varicella titers, TB/QuantiFERON Gold, and annual flu vaccination.
• Preeclampsia CME/CEU required.
