Join a team providing inpatient care at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. This travel hospitalist role with SCP Health – Locums begins Aug 1, 2026 and is ongoing. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide full inpatient hospitalist coverage across the service.
- Participate in GME teaching activities.
- Collaborate daily with a dedicated NP/PA admitter and on-site physician colleagues.
- Manage patients in the ICU and PCU as needed.
- Work a 7-on / 7-off schedule with 12-hour shifts (either 7a–7p or 7p–7a).
Facility and team
- Johnston Memorial Hospital: 124 acute care beds, including a 14-bed ICU and 18-bed PCU.
- EMR: Epic.
- Team support: Dedicated NP/PA admitter; daytime coverage includes 4 MDs and 1 NP; nights covered by 1 MD.
Who we’re looking for
- Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Either within 7 years of residency graduation (if BE) or at least 2 years of prior hospitalist experience.
