We’re seeking a board-certified or board-eligible general surgeon to provide short-term locum coverage in Livingston, TN (38570). This is an inpatient, call-only assignment running June 17, 2026 through June 22, 2026. You’ll cover a beeper call with a 2–3 call ratio and a 15-minute response time. The assignment is supplemental; travel, lodging, and malpractice are covered by the agency.

What the shift looks like

• Average daily volume is light (about 2–3 patients/day) with roughly one admission expected during the coverage period.
• You’ll handle assigned patient rounding and admissions, and take 2–3 phone consults per day.
• Primary procedures include general adult surgery, colonoscopy, and hernia repair.

Support and systems

• You’ll document in the MEDHOST EMR and work alongside RN support staff.
• Hospital privileges are not required beforehand; temporary privileges are available.

Requirements

• Board status: BC/BE.
• State license: Tennessee or participation in IMLC.
• Certification: BLS required.
• Fellowship training is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-call coverage for general surgery services.
• Respond to and triage consults by phone as needed.
• Manage admissions and perform assigned rounds.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in MEDHOST.
