Correctional Psychiatrist (Contract) — Inpatient, Raleigh NC

Join the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, Comprehensive Health Division, serving a 30,000-offender population across 55 state correctional facilities. This contract, onsite inpatient psychiatry role is based in Raleigh, NC and requires coverage 3–5 days per week, Monday–Friday (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). No on-call responsibilities.

Key requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry training program
• Active DEA registration
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Prior experience in correctional, forensic, or inpatient psychiatric settings preferred

Core responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric assessments and screenings for incarcerated patients
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans and manage psychopharmacologic therapy
• Monitor medication efficacy and side effects, adjusting treatment as needed
• Provide crisis intervention when required
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
• Fulfill scheduled assignments and perform additional duties as requested by the facility

Service setting: Inpatient correctional facility
Location: Raleigh, NC
Shift: Weekday daytime schedule; 3–5 days/week; no calls.
