Locum Tenens General Surgeon — Inpatient Surgical & 24/7 Call Coverage (Dickinson, ND)

Join a busy inpatient surgical team in Dickinson, North Dakota, covering clinical care and 24/7 call. You’ll split your week between clinic and the OR with a schedule that typically looks like: Monday 8:00–5:00, Tuesday and Thursday focused on surgery/clinic, Wednesday 8:00–5:00, and Friday 8:00–2:00. Coverage begins June 10, 2026 and continues on an ongoing locum tenens basis. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are covered.

What you’ll do

• Provide full clinical coverage in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient surgical service.
• Take 24/7/365 general surgery call with a 20-minute response expectation.
• Admit, round on, and manage general surgery patients.
• Perform a wide range of procedures including abdominal, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and hepatobiliary cases (see list below).
• Offer phone consultations as needed.

• Average daily patient volume: ~15
• Rounding included
• Case mix includes abdominal surgery, endoscopy, liver, stomach, gallbladders, appendix, colon, laparoscopy, and spleen procedures.

Facility details

• 25 beds in the surgical department
• Trauma Level IV
• Anesthesia coverage provided by a CRNA group
• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges are available

Qualifications & compliance

• Board certified highly preferred; board eligible required if within 3 years of completing U.S. residency
• Active North Dakota medical license (Universal/IMLC accepted)
• Active DEA registration
• ACLS certification required
• Self-query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation required
