Locum Tenens Hematology & Oncology Physician — Inpatient Waterloo, IA (FT, Teaching, Travel/Lodging Covered)

We’re seeking a Hematology/Oncology locum provider to join an inpatient team in Waterloo, Iowa, to provide supplemental clinical coverage. This is an ASAP-to-ongoing assignment with a consistent weekday schedule and a light call rotation.

What the role looks like

• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; full-time equivalent (16 shifts/month).
  • One weekend in-house per month.
  • One week plus weekend per month reserved for phone-call coverage only.
• Setting: Inpatient (Trauma Level III) with teaching opportunities. No outreach or telehealth required.
• Patient volume: ~16–20 patients per day, adult population (18+).
• Team/support: 2 APPs, 2 RNs, and 5 office staff.
• Facility resources: Epic EMR, 4 exam rooms. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.

Clinical responsibilities

• Manage hematology/oncology inpatient care including consults and follow-ups.
• Oversee and administer antineoplastic therapies.
• Perform phlebotomies, IVIG, iron therapy, and bone marrow biopsies.
• Coordinate with imaging, lab, and pharmacy services.

Requirements

• Active Iowa license or participation in IMLC.
• Board certified in Hematology & Oncology and fellowship trained.
• Clean NPDB report.
