Northern Arizona Healthcare (Locums) is seeking an Electrophysiology physician for locum coverage at Flagstaff Medical Center. This is a daytime, clinical-only assignment (Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM) beginning July 6, 2026, for approximately 13 weeks with ongoing coverage through December 31, 2026. Service settings include hospital and in-office clinic.
Coverage schedule (select weeks July–Dec 2026): Jul 6–10, Jul 20–24, Jul 27–31; Aug 10–14, Aug 17–21, Aug 31–Sep 4; Sep 8–11, Sep 14–18, Sep 21–25, Sep 28–Oct 2; Oct 5–9, Oct 13–16, Oct 19–23, Oct 26–30; Nov 2–6, Nov 9–13, Nov 16–20, Nov 23–25, Nov 30–Dec 4; Dec 7–11, Dec 14–18, Dec 21–24, Dec 28–31.
Clinical expectations
- Adult patient population.
- Clinic volume: ~20–22 patients/day.
- Hospital volume: ~3–4 consults/day plus 4–6 EP cases/day.
- Common procedures: EP studies, catheter ablations, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs).
- Facility: 268-bed hospital using Cerner EMR.
Required qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
- Active Arizona medical license preferred (willingness to obtain required). Arizona DEA registration required.
- ACLS certification.
- Minimum 1 year EP experience.
- Procedural requirements: proficiency in cardiac electrophysiology and ablations (minimum 100 EP cases in the last 2 years), TEEs, independent moderate sedation, and demonstrated proficiency with Abbott EnSite X mapping system.
Credentialing & compliance
- Typical credentialing timeline: 30 days. Applications must be completed within 7 days once initiated. Case logs and vaccination records are always required. Onboarding & training
- Mandatory Cerner training (~4 hours, remote) the week prior to start; paid at provider rate or $215/hr (whichever is less). In-person orientation may occur the day before or day of start.
Logistics & reimbursements
- Travel: Nearest airport Flagstaff Pulliam (FLG), ~10 minutes; Phoenix Sky Harbor ~2.5 hours. Economy airfare only; fares over $1,000 require prior approval.
- Lodging: Max $200/night; direct bookings require cancelled checks/proof.
- Rental car: Standard/economy only, max $100/day. Mileage to facility reimbursed; local mileage is not.
- Parking: Hotel parking reimbursed; airport economy parking or rideshare allowed. Black car services not permitted.
- Baggage: Standard fees only; sports equipment not covered.
- Timesheets and expense receipts must be submitted within 30 days and include provider name, date, company, and details. Direct lodging payments require cleared checks.
Submission process
- Presentations are system-wide. Submit CV, completed questionnaire, vaccination status, email, and phone number. Phone interviews may occur (sometimes unannounced); please respond within 1–2 days. Internal confirmations will be sent by the staffing team. Notify the team if you have not worked in the past three months or cannot provide recent case logs. Contact the team if you have malpractice claims over $500K or more than two cases.
Duties & responsibilities
- Perform EP procedures including mapping and ablations, and TEEs.
- Independently administer moderate sedation for procedures.
- Provide hospital consults (approx. 3–4/day) and manage outpatient clinic (20–22 patients/day).
- Use Abbott EnSite X mapping system for cardiac mapping and ablation.
