TeamHealth is actively recruiting an experienced advanced practice clinician (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) to support our critical care program at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, team-oriented ICU setting with a consistent full-time night schedule (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.). Our flexible block scheduling approach is designed to enhance continuity of care while supporting a balanced lifestyle.

- 42-bed ICU
- Mixed-acuity unit: Neuro, cardiovascular, medical, and surgical patients
- Documentation system: EPIC
What You Can Expect
- Block scheduling model offering extended time off
- Collaborative practice alongside intensivists, physicians, and multidisciplinary staff
- Typical ICU census ranges from 35-45 patients (including ICU holds in the ED managed by the intensivist team)
- Active participation in all code responses
- No rapid response team responsibilities
- Solo provider coverage on nights
- Hands-on procedural work required, including arterial lines and central line placement
- Night Shift Responsibilities: Responsible for 1/3 of progress notes; assess and manage all patients assigned (half of census) until 2 a.m. then they manage the entire census, answer phone calls from nursing, collaborate with consults, take on new consults, respond to codes, and update families
