Overview
Seeking a locum tenens General/Adult Psychiatrist to provide inpatient clinical coverage in Newburgh, IN. Assignment begins Aug 1, 2026 and is ongoing. Schedule: 14 consecutive days on / 14 days off, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with weekend PM on-call coverage (Saturday & Sunday, 5:00 PM–8:00 AM) during the 14-day rotation. Call is beeper-based with a 30-minute response expectation. Malpractice insurance provided by vendor; travel and lodging are not provided (local/drive-in candidates preferred). Coverage needed due to scheduling demand.

Patient Profile
100% adult inpatient population with an average daily census of 15–20 patients. Case mix includes general behavioral health diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, affective disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, eating and developmental disorders, organic disorders, and involuntary commitments. Assigned patient rounding.

Facility & Systems
48-bed inpatient behavioral health unit. Documentation and orders are completed using HCS (orders), Fluency Flex (notes), Medik, and OnBase.

Qualifications

• Board eligible required; board certified preferred.
• Indiana medical license required.
• Fellowship preferred.
• Prior inpatient adult behavioral health experience and proficiency with HCS, Fluency Flex, Medik, and OnBase required.
• Local or drive-in candidates only; able to work the 14-day on/off rotation.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide full-spectrum psychiatric care for adult inpatients: initial evaluations, ongoing medication management, and individualized treatment planning.
• Collaborate with two inpatient NPs and PRN NPs to manage patient load and ensure continuity of care.
• Manage weekend PM on-call responsibilities during rotation and respond within 30 minutes as needed.
• Oversee and authorize interventions as clinically indicated, including involuntary commitments, seclusion, and restraints.
• Accurately document all patient encounters and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
