Location: Lafayette, IN — Hospital Emergency Department (Level III Trauma Center)
Type: Locum Tenens — Clinical coverage only, starting 10/01/2026 and ongoing
Schedule: Flexible shifts to fit departmental needs
What you’ll be treating
- High-acuity emergency patients across all ages
- Typical ED volume: ~50,000 visits per year
- Wide case mix including trauma, cardiac, orthopedic, ENT, and gynecologic emergencies
- Admissions and transfers are part of the role
The ED and support
- 33 ED beds, including 3 trauma bays
- EMR: Epic
- Dedicated specialty rooms for ENT, orthopedics, gynecology, etc.
- Full inpatient and specialty backup available
- Support team: APPs, nursing staff, scribes, and hospital leadership
Clinical scope and procedures
- Full-scope emergency medicine care
- Trauma evaluation and management
- Advanced airway management, resuscitation, and other critical care procedures
Credentials and requirements
- Active Indiana medical license or ability to obtain
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine
- Active DEA or ability to obtain
- ACLS, BLS, ATLS, PALS required
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Prior experience in high-acuity emergency settings preferred
- Comfortable working in a trauma-designated ED
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and emergent conditions
- Perform necessary EM procedures and resuscitations
- Coordinate admissions and transfers with inpatient teams and specialists
- Collaborate closely with APPs, nurses, and consulting services
- Complete accurate, timely documentation in Epic
- Help maintain patient flow and efficient department operations
