Job Description

IWK Health Department of Diagnostic Imaging is urgently seeking applications for temporary on-site Radiologists for extended term appointments (9-12 months) in a busy Pediatric and Women’s tertiary care academic center.

Applicants should be eligible to work in Canada, eligibe for appropriate licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (www.cpsns.ns.ca), and have an FRCPC or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiology with fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology and/or Women’s Imaging. Additional expertise in pediatric interventional radiology, pediatric neuroradiology or pediatric musculoskeletal imaging would be an asset. Remuneration is based on a competitive daily stipend for regular and on-call activities. 

Reimbursement of some licensure and short-term accommodation or moving expenses is
available. At the end of the term, successful candidates may be offered an extension of their term or may be considered for a permanent position. Teaching is an integral part of the role. The IWK Diagnostic Imaging Department is affiliated with the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine and offers pediatric radiology and fetal imaging training as part of the Radiology residency curriculum. Additionally, the department supports a Pediatric Radiology Residency Program, accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada). Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills. 

Successful applicants will be required to apply for and maintain an academic appointment with
the Faculty of Medicine to fulfill their required teaching responsibilities.

Imaging includes the following modalities/sub-specialties:
• Diagnostic Radiography (X-Ray and Fluoroscopy)
• Computed Tomography (CT)
• Nuclear Medicine (NM)
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
• Ultrasound (US)
• Bone Densitometry (BD)
• Interventional Radiology/Angiography Suite


Halifax, Nova Scotia is a vibrant and growing ocean-front city with a population of
approximately 500,000. Halifax boasts diverse neighborhoods, many of which are an easy walk,
