Locum Tenens Hospitalist Physician — 4-Day Independence Day Coverage (Irvine, KY)

A community 25-bed hospital in Irvine, Kentucky seeks a locum hospitalist to provide continuous inpatient coverage over the Independence Day holiday weekend. The physician will be the sole on-call provider during the assignment and will manage adult and geriatric inpatients, including nursing home call for the county.

Assignment details

• Coverage: July 3, 2026, 8:00 AM – July 6, 2026, 8:00 AM
• Practice setting: Hospital-based inpatient medicine
• Facility: 25-bed community hospital, Level IV Trauma Center
• Patient population: Adult and geriatric
• Average daily census: ~14 patients (≈50% swing-bed)

Schedule & call

• Continuous coverage from 7:00 AM July 3 through 7:00 AM July 6 (24-hour hospitalist call)
• Shift structure: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend coverage required
• Physician serves as sole provider on call for the assigned period
• Responsible for nursing home call coverage within the county

Clinical responsibilities

• Admit, evaluate, and manage inpatient adult and geriatric patients
• Perform daily rounds and provide cross-coverage as needed
• Manage acute and chronic medical issues, coordinate care with nursing, specialists, and ancillary departments
• Provide nursing home call coverage when required
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure safe transitions of care and discharge planning

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Active Kentucky medical license required
• Current DEA registration required
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience in community or rural hospital medicine preferred
