Locums Pediatric Anesthesiologist (Fellowship-Trained) — Richmond, VA (Weekdays Only)

A major tertiary care hospital in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a pediatric anesthesiology physician to start as soon as possible and provide ongoing weekday coverage. You’ll work in a busy, hospital-based surgical environment (466-bed facility and trauma center) caring for infants and young children — with a predictable schedule and no nights, weekends, or in-house/on-call responsibilities.

The typical daytime shift is 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with occasional alternative shifts such as 7:00 AM–5:00 PM or 7:00 AM–7:00 PM. There is no weekend, night, 24-hour, in-house, or beeper call.

Clinical responsibilities include:

• Delivering anesthesia care for pediatric surgical patients from approximately 2 days to 2 years of age
• Performing preoperative evaluations and creating tailored anesthesia plans
• Administering and monitoring anesthesia through procedures and managing postoperative recovery and pain control
• Collaborating closely with pediatric surgeons, nursing staff, and perioperative teams
• Keeping accurate, timely medical documentation

Typical case mix centers on infants and very young children and includes hernia repairs, pyloric stenosis procedures, ENT surgeries, and a range of general pediatric surgical cases.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO
• Board certification in Anesthesiology
• Fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology required
• Active Virginia medical license preferred
• Current DEA registration if required by the facility
