We’re seeking an experienced OB/GYN to provide in‑house call coverage in Richland, WA (99352). This is a locum tenens opportunity to start ASAP and continue on an ongoing basis, covering 24‑hour in‑house call shifts (5–8 shifts per month). Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered by the vendor.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide 24‑hour in‑house call coverage for emergent obstetric and gynecologic presentations from the ED. Response time is on site.
  • Manage a high‑acuity case mix that includes hysterectomy, ectopic pregnancy, D&C, ovarian cystectomy, hysteroscopy, IUD insertions, abscess drainage, post‑hysterectomy complications, exploratory laparotomy, and other urgent OB/GYN procedures.
  • Perform routine and complicated deliveries (vaginal, low forceps), make decisions for and perform C‑sections (including breech, multiple births, abruptions, VBACs), and repair 3rd & 4th degree lacerations.
  • Collaborate closely with five midwives and a team of PAs/NPs (13) to coordinate labor and delivery care.
  • Document thoroughly and promptly in Epic.

Patient and volume information

  • Patient population: adolescent and adult female patients.
  • Average daily volume: ~25 patients/day.
  • Phone consults are part of coverage; admissions and call ratio to be determined.

Facility & support

  • EMR: Epic (proficiency required).
  • Specialty backup: five midwives supporting MDs on L&D.
  • Additional staff: PAs/NPs (13); RN/MA/office staffing TBD.

Privileges & compliance

  • Hospital privileges: not required; temporary privileges not available.

Required skills & procedures

  • Comfortable managing low‑ and high‑risk pregnancies and interpreting FHR monitoring (NST/CST/FSE).
  • Able to perform and interpret OB ultrasounds.
  • Experienced in routine and complicated deliveries, operative vaginal delivery (low forceps), C‑section decision‑making and performance, and repair of significant lacerations.
  • Preferred: experience or capability in surgical gynecology (laparoscopic/open procedures such as tubal ligation, ovarian surgery, ectopic management, hysterectomy, hysteroscopy, myomectomy, A&P repair, etc.) and Level I/II obstetric ultrasounds.

Qualifications

  • Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • WA license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) accepted.
  • BLS required.
  • Fellowship and prior high‑acuity OB/GYN experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment and proficient with Epic EMR.
