Overview
Join a hospital-based OB/GYN locum team in Springfield, Ohio, providing in-house clinical and call coverage. Assignment begins June 26, 2026 and is ongoing. Schedule: every other weekend, Friday 7:00 a.m. to Monday 7:00 a.m. Call is in-house with a 1:4 rotation. Travel and lodging are covered; malpractice details not specified.
Patient mix & volume
Care for a diverse caseload: approximately 60% low‑risk pregnancy, 40% high‑risk pregnancy, and 60% general GYN. Daily volume varies with roughly four admissions per day. Case mix includes low‑ and high‑risk obstetrics, C‑sections, and gynecologic surgery.
Facility & support
Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Triage department with 34 beds. EMR: Epic. Clinical support includes L&D nurses, midwives, and APPs (one APP per 12‑hour shift).
Privileges & credentialing
Hospital privileges are required; temporary privileges available. Credentialing typically takes 30–90 days.
Clinical scope & required procedures
- Obstetrics: management of low‑ and high‑risk pregnancies (e.g., preeclampsia, diabetes, significant comorbidities); fetal heart rate interpretation (NST/CST/FSE); performance and interpretation of OB ultrasounds, including level I/screening for viability.
- Labor & Delivery: routine vaginal delivery, assisted vaginal delivery (forceps), decision‑making and performance of C‑section (including complicated cases: breech, multiple births, abruptions), VBACs, and repair of third‑ and fourth‑degree lacerations.
- Gynecology: surgical GYN including open and laparoscopic procedures (diagnostic/minor: tubal ligation, lysis of adhesions; operative/major: ectopic surgery, oophorectomy, cystectomy, extensive LOA).
Qualifications & compliance
- Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Active Ohio medical license or willingness to obtain one.
- Active DEA registration.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Clean malpractice history and submission of a Self‑Query NPDB report within 30 days.
Primary responsibilities
Provide continuous in‑house laborist coverage on scheduled weekends; manage low‑ and high‑risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies; perform gynecologic surgeries as needed; interpret OB ultrasounds and fetal monitoring; collaborate with nursing, midwifery, and APP teams to deliver safe, comprehensive care.
