Locum Tenens Inpatient Psychiatrist (General/Adult) — St. Louis, MO

Join a St. Louis inpatient psychiatry team as a locum tenens physician covering clinical inpatient care on a supplemental basis. This is an ongoing assignment starting ASAP with a regular schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., plus one weekend per month (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.). Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide comprehensive inpatient psychiatric care for an assigned caseload (average 16–18 patients/day).
• Perform psychiatric evaluations, develop and manage treatment plans, and document all encounters in Epic.
• Deliver pharmacotherapy and other therapeutic interventions; participate in scheduled weekend rounding.
• Work with nursing staff and two PAs/NPs to coordinate patient care.

Facility and support

• Inpatient setting using Epic EMR.
• Onsite nursing support and two PA/NP colleagues.

Clinical scope and procedures

• Required experience treating: anxiety disorders, affective disorders, ADHD, personality disorders, eating disorders, developmental disorders, psychotic disorders, organic disorders.
• Comfortable with involuntary commitments, seclusion, restraint application, and pharmacotherapy.
• ECT experience preferred but not required.

Credentials and requirements

• Board Eligible (must obtain certification within five years of residency).
• Must hold a Missouri license or be eligible for the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) universal license.
• BLS certification required.
• Epic experience required.
