Locum Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician — High-Volume MFM (Epic) in Wausau, WI; Travel/Lodging Covered

We’re seeking a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician to provide locum tenens coverage in Wausau, WI from July 20, 2026 through December 31, 2026. You’ll work both inpatient and outpatient, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with night and weekend phone consults on beeper call (30-minute response time). This is long-term vacancy coverage while the site conducts a permanent search. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are covered by the agency.

What you’ll do

• Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient MFM care, managing high-risk pregnancies and performing consultations, ultrasounds, and specialty procedures.
• Cover night and weekend calls by phone only (no on-site requirement), responding within 30 minutes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and use available support staff (1 RN, 2 MAs, 5 office/imaging staff).
• Document encounters and care plans promptly in Epic.

• Average daily patient volume: 20–30
• Occasional phone consults outside scheduled clinic hours

Facility and credentialing

• EMR: Epic
• Temporary hospital privileges available; hospital privileges required
• Credentialing timeline: approximately 30 days

Procedures and conditions you should be comfortable managing
Required experience with:

• Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), HELLP
• Type I, Type II and gestational diabetes
• Cardiac disease (Class II+), pulmonary, renal, neurological, autoimmune, hematologic/oncologic and collagen vascular disorders
• VBACs, vaginal breech deliveries, placenta previa/abruption, multiple gestations
• Vaginal deliveries, C-sections, instrument-assisted deliveries (forceps, vacuum)
• Amniocentesis (genetic), chorionic villus sampling, cervical cerclage
• Intrauterine transfusion, multifetal pregnancy reduction
• Performance and interpretation of targeted/Level II ultrasounds, fetal echocardiography, fetal blood sampling

Qualifications

• Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine required
• Board eligible
• Wisconsin medical license preferred but not required
• BLS certification required

Schedule and logistics

• Shift: Monday–Friday, 8a–4p
• Call: beeper, nights/weekends phone consult only
• Coverage period: Jul 20, 2026 – Dec 31, 2026
