Locum Tenens Pediatric Surgeon — Richmond, VA (June 11–July 10)

A well-established pediatric healthcare system in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a locum Pediatric Surgeon to provide full-time clinic and hospital coverage from June 11 to July 10. You’ll work alongside a collaborative pediatric specialty team, handling outpatient surgical consultations, inpatient management, and 24/7 call responsibilities.

Schedule and Coverage

• Dates: June 11 – July 10
• Setting: Pediatric surgery clinic and hospital-based coverage
• Clinic: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Night call: Monday–Friday, 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Weekend call: Friday–Sunday, 24-hour coverage
• Response expectations: 15-minute callback for emergencies; if required onsite, be there within 30 minutes
• Most consults are by phone or from the emergency department

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate pediatric patients and develop surgical treatment plans
• Provide preoperative, operative, and postoperative care
• Manage inpatient pediatric surgical cases and daily rounds for patients you admit
• Respond to ED consults and provide weekend surgical consultations as needed
• Collaborate closely with pediatricians, emergency physicians, and specialty providers
• Keep complete, timely medical documentation

Typical Patient Volume

• Average 0–4 patients per day per provider
• About 0–2 consult calls per day
• Facility performs roughly 8–10 emergent pediatric surgeries per year

Qualifications

• MD or DO required
• Board certified in Pediatric Surgery
• Active Virginia medical license
• Current BLS and PALS certifications
• COVID-19 vaccination required
