Seeking a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner to support the cardiovascular/thoracic surgery team in an inpatient, locum tenens role in Redding, CA. This position provides clinical coverage and night call for an ongoing assignment beginning July 13, 2026. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
Schedule and Coverage
- Daily onsite shift 7:00 AM–5:00 PM with night call 5:00 PM–7:00 AM, including weekends
- Beeper call type; average callback response 1–2 hours
- Coverage reason: gaps in staffing
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assist in cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases, including surgical assist duties
- Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) using Maquet Hemopro 2
- Conduct morning rounds and document postoperative notes
- Provide follow-up clinic care on Tuesdays and Thursdays (up to six patients per clinic)
- Take night call with minimal expected callbacks
Patients and Case Mix
- Case mix: cardiovascular and thoracic surgery
- Admissions managed by the cardiovascular surgeon; rounding and postoperative management included
Facility and Systems
- Level II trauma center
- EMR: Cerner Care B with SurgiNet
- EVH equipment: Maquet Hemopro 2 available
Privileges, Credentialing, and Compliance
- Must hold active, unrestricted hospital privileges at a The Joint Commission–accredited facility
- Credentialing timeline: 30–60 days
- Clean malpractice history and a self-query NPDB report required
Required Qualifications
- Board certified NP with recent, substantial experience in cardiovascular surgical assist, including EVH
- Active California license and DEA registration
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
