Locum Tenens Thoracic Surgeon — Midland, MI (24-Hour Inpatient Call, Full-Scope Thoracic/Esophageal & Robotic Cases)

We’re looking for a Board-Certified Thoracic Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage in Midland, Michigan. You’ll run a full-scope thoracic practice in a well-supported clinical setting, handling a mix of inpatient care, emergency consults, follow-ups, and advanced surgical cases.

What the role looks like

• 24-hour call coverage with a primarily inpatient focus
• EMR: EPIC, with Dragon dictation for charting
• Collaborative environment—work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care

Core responsibilities

• Evaluate, manage, and follow up on inpatient thoracic surgery patients
• Respond to emergency thoracic consults and manage operative and non-operative cases
• Perform scheduled and urgent thoracic procedures, and provide ongoing outpatient follow-up
• Accurately document all patient encounters in EPIC using Dragon

Typical cases and procedures

• Full-scope thoracic surgery practice, including esophageal and chest surgery
• VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) and robotic thoracic procedures
• Wedge resections and open thoracic cases
• Acute and emergent thoracic surgery management as needed

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery
• Michigan medical license or eligible to obtain licensure
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with both robotic and open thoracic procedures
