Patient/Volume

• Inpatient census typically 28–30 (plus 3–4 ICU/IMCU)
• Procedures: 10–14 per day (varies)
• Rounding: Inpatient and outpatient

Facility & Support

• EMR: Epic (proficiency preferred)
• Endoscopy: Three new endoscopy suites
• Anesthesia: Available for conscious sedation on select days
• Support staff: 1 RN, 1 MA, 1 PA/NP, 1 office staff

Privileges & Compliance

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges not available

Required Procedures/Skills

• Upper GI endoscopy (biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration/cautery of bleeding, variceal injection)
• ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic, including PEG)
• Esophageal dilatation and esophageal manometry interpretation
• Small bowel biopsy
• Lower GI: flexible/rigid sigmoidoscopy; colonoscopy with biopsy and polypectomy
• Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Insertion/management of Sengstaken-Blakemore tube

Preferred

• Liver biopsy

Credentials & Requirements

• Board certified
• Fellowship in Gastroenterology required
• BLS and ACLS required
• Wisconsin Act 10 license acceptable
• Temporary or new state license: none specified

Duties

• Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology clinic and scheduled procedure coverage
• Perform listed endoscopic procedures and manage inpatient consults
• Work with endoscopy team and available anesthesia support
• Participate in week-on/week-off rotation
