Overview
Join a Spokane-based inpatient psychiatry team as a locum tenens physician providing clinical-only coverage Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Coverage starts ASAP through January 29, 2027. This role is supplemental to the existing team. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered by the agency.

Patient mix & workflow
You’ll typically see about 10 patients per day with a roughly 1:1 ratio of follow-ups to new evaluations. The service admits and rounds on patients and manages a broad spectrum of psychiatric presentations.

Facility snapshot

• Inpatient department: 16 beds
• Seclusion rooms: 10
• Onsite lab and Epic EMR
• Medical staff: 16 physicians
• Support team: 7 APPs plus RNs, mental health counselors, and social workers
• You will be expected to supervise APPs

Clinical responsibilities

• Perform psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Provide consultation-liaison services to medical and surgical teams
• Manage pharmacotherapy across a wide range of disorders
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Participate in admissions and daily rounding

Typical cases & required skills
You should be comfortable treating anxiety, mood/affective, personality, eating, developmental, psychotic, and organic disorders, as well as ADD/ADHD. Experience with involuntary commitments, seclusion, and restraint procedures is required, along with strong pharmacotherapy skills.

Credentials & requirements

• Board certified in psychiatry (required)
• Washington state license or participation in the IMLC
• DEA registration (required)
