Locum Tenens Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NICU) — Nights/Weekends, Worcester MA

We’re looking for a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner to join a busy NICU team in Worcester, MA, covering inpatient shifts on a locum tenens basis. This role starts ASAP and is ongoing, with evening, overnight, and weekend coverage required. The agency covers travel, lodging, and malpractice.

Schedule & Coverage

• Weeknights: Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Weekends: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Coverage type: Clinical only
• Reason: Vacancy due to a personal emergency

Who you’ll care for

• Neonatal patients in the NICU, including preterm infants and babies with respiratory distress and other critical needs
• You’ll have assigned patients for rounds and will be expected to manage acute issues as they arise

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide on-site NICU coverage during nights and weekends
• Evaluate and manage acutely ill neonates—diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and maintain clear communication with the medical team
• Document all patient encounters in Cerner EMR
• Respond promptly to emergent situations in the unit

Qualifications

• Board-certified Nurse Practitioner in Neonatology (BC required)
• Massachusetts license required
• PALS certification required
• Previous NICU experience is required; fellowship is preferred
• Cerner EMR proficiency preferred

Privileges & logistics

• Temporary hospital privileges available; hospital privileges are not required prior to start
