We’re looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a cardiothoracic surgery team in Mason City, IA. This inpatient locum tenens role blends clinical care, surgical support, and call responsibilities—travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage are provided.

Schedule & Coverage

• Ongoing coverage beginning Aug 10, 2026.
• Typical weekday schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (with assigned night call).
• Weekend coverage: Scheduled 24-hour on-call shifts on weekends as noted.
• Call rotation: 1:2.
• Specific coverage blocks include multiple date ranges from Aug through Dec 2026 (detailed schedule available upon request).

Patient/Clinical Focus

• Primary case mix: cardiothoracic surgery, including CABG.
• Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative clinical and surgical care for CT surgery patients.
• Perform procedures such as endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) when required.
• Manage weekday clinic responsibilities and cover assigned night and weekend on-call shifts.

Facility & Scope

• Facility is a Level II trauma center.
• Role involves hands-on participation in cardiothoracic surgical cases and perioperative management.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Nurse Practitioner.
• Active Iowa (IA) license required.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in cardiothoracic surgery.
• Clean malpractice and background record; self-query NPDB report required.

• Confident, autonomous clinical decision-making in the CT surgery setting.
• Ability to perform EVH and support surgical teams in the OR.
• Reliable participation in a 1:2 call rotation and flexible coverage of scheduled weekend 24-hour calls.
