Contract: Locum Tenens — Coverage begins Jul 13, 2026 and is ongoing
Service Setting: Inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery
Coverage: Clinical duties plus call (beeper)

Schedule

• Regular: Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• Call: Weeknights 6:00 PM–7:00 AM (beeper; 20–30 minute response time); weekends: 24-hour beeper call
• Specific shift coverage requested includes select weeks in July and August 2026 (detailed schedule available upon request)

Patients & Clinical Scope

• Adult patient population; average daily census 5–8 patients
• Rounding on post-operative inpatients and clinic visits for pre- and post-op care
• Case mix: cardiac and thoracic surgery including ECMO, IABP, Impella
• First-assist in the operating room; interpret EKGs, chest x-rays, and labs; device management as needed

Facility & Team

• EMR: Epic
• Support: Medical assistants (3) and additional PA/NP support (2)

Privileges & Onboarding

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges not available
• Typical credentialing: 30–60 days

Requirements

• Board certified (BC) Physician Assistant required
• Active California license and DEA registration
• BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery preferred
• Proficiency with Epic and comfort in multidisciplinary, team-based care

Logistics

• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided by agency
