We’re seeking a Board-certified anesthesiologist to provide locum tenens coverage in San Francisco and nearby sister facilities. This is a clinical-only role covering hospital and ambulatory surgery center cases, starting 08/31/2026 and continuing for 26+ weeks with ongoing need.
Schedule and coverage
- Full-time preferred; 26+ week assignment
- Typical shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (8–10 hour shifts), 4–5 days/week, minimum 40 hours/week
- Must be available to float between multiple facilities
- Minimum availability: at least 2 weeks per month if not full-time
Patient population and case mix
- Adolescents (13+), adults, and geriatric patients
- General surgical anesthesia for inpatient and outpatient procedures
- Occasional regional anesthesia (strongly preferred)
- No cardiac, liver, or neurosurgical cases
- High-acuity (ASA 3+) and trauma experience preferred
Facility and support
- Tertiary care center with trauma exposure (trauma experience strongly preferred)
- Work with CRNA support and established surgical teams
- Standard OR equipment available; documentation in Epic EMR
- This role provides supplemental coverage across hospitals and ambulatory sites
Privileges, credentialing, and compliance
- Hospital privileges required
- Typical credentialing timeline: 60–90 days
Qualifications
- Active California medical license required
- Board certified in Anesthesiology; exceptionally, BE candidates with fellowship training may be considered
- Active California DEA with Schedule II authorization
- Required certifications: BLS; ACLS (AHA) preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ anesthesiology experience with recent tertiary care and recent solo practice experience
- Epic experience required
- Comfortable floating between facilities and working in a teaching/trauma environment
Clinical expectations
- Provide general anesthesia independently (with CRNA supervision as needed)
- Perform regional anesthesia when indicated (strongly preferred)
- Manage inpatient and outpatient surgical anesthetic care
- Document all care in Epic and collaborate closely with the surgical and perioperative teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
