Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — St. Johns, MI (12-hr Shifts, Epic, Level IV Trauma)

We’re looking for a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician to cover a locum tenens assignment in St. Johns, Michigan. This is a great opportunity if you prefer a manageable patient load, work with Epic, and enjoy practicing in a community hospital that’s a Level IV Trauma Center.

Schedule and shift details

• July & August: two day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) and seven night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• September: additional shifts available, primarily nights
• Shift length: 12 hours

About the facility

• Annual ED volume: ~13,800 visits
• Average daily volume: 32–50 patients
• ED beds: 10
• Trauma designation: Level IV
• EMR: Epic

What you’ll do

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients across a broad range of emergency conditions
• Respond to hospital codes as needed
• Interpret EKGs (cardiology provides final review)
• Work with admitting physicians who handle admission orders
• Stabilize obstetrical patients who need higher-level care and coordinate transfers to Sparrow Lansing Labor & Delivery when required
• Deliver timely, patient-centered care while collaborating closely with nurses and other hospital staff

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
• Active Michigan medical license
• Current ACLS and ATLS certifications
• Prior experience in a community emergency department is preferred
