Job Description
Board-certified Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant needed for locum tenens coverage in Salem, VA to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings in collaboration with Cardiac and Cardiothoracic Surgery teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 patient coverage, including call.
- Evaluate and treat patients in the cardiology clinic and on inpatient rounds.
- Assist in the CVOR with the CT surgeon: vein harvesting and First Assist duties during procedures.
- Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
- Accurately document patient encounters and maintain EMR (eClinicalWorks) compliance.
Patient volume
- Approximately 25 patients per day.
Qualifications
- Board-certified NP or PA.
- Active Virginia state license.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Experience in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, or critical care preferred.
- Proven ability to function as a First Assist in the OR, including vein harvesting.

- Salem, VA (Roanoke Valley) — access to outdoor recreation and the Roanoke metro area.
