PATIENT VOLUME & WORKFLOW

• Average daily census/admissions: ~10 patients/day
• Rounding: Inpatient and ICU rounds
• Phone consults: ~20/day
• Support staff: 2 RNs, 1 MA, 1 PA/NP, 2 office staff

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital privileges: Temporary privileges available; hospital privileges not required prior to start

REQUIRED PROCEDURES (must perform)

• General cardiothoracic surgery (open and endoscopic)
• Coronary artery bypass (on-pump and off-pump)
• Valve repair and replacement
• Aneurysm repair (cardiac, aorto-thoracic)
• Congenital repairs (ASD, VSD, PFO, etc.)
• Lung resection (including VATS), chest wall/pleural, esophagus and diaphragm operations
• Permanent pacemaker and AICD placement
• LVAD management and implantation
• TAVR and CABG
• Bronchoscopy; ventilator management
• Evaluation and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues
• Invasive lines and devices: central line, arterial line, PA catheter, IABP
• General vascular procedures (open), including line/device insertions listed above

PREFERRED SKILLS (desirable)

• Endovascular procedures
• Aorto-abdominal aneurysm repair
• Aorto‑femoral/iliac bypass, fem-pop bypass
• Endarterectomy (carotid, renal, subclavian steal)
• Additional experience with TAVR, CABG, ventilator management, bronchoscopy, acute volume/BP management

REQUIREMENTS

• Board: Board eligible required
• Fellowship: Required
• Licensure: IN medical license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide in-house cardiothoracic surgery call coverage per rotation
• Perform emergent and scheduled cardiac/thoracic surgical procedures
• Manage post-operative and ICU patients; conduct rounds
• Respond to inpatient consults, manage admissions, and coordinate care
• Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for continuity of care
