Locum Trauma/General Surgery NP/PA — Night 7-on/7-off Inpatient (No Call) — Midland, MI

We’re looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join an ongoing locum tenens Trauma/General Surgery team in Midland, Michigan. This is a full-time, inpatient night position with a predictable 7-on/7-off schedule and no call responsibilities.

Schedule and Setting

• Inpatient trauma/general surgery
• 7 days on / 7 days off
• Night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Monday–Sunday
• No call; holiday coverage only if it falls during your scheduled week
• Ongoing assignment

What you’ll do
You’ll manage admissions and consults for trauma, general surgery, and urology patients, respond to Level I and II trauma activations, and perform histories and physicals and surgical consults. You’ll serve as the first-call provider for several inpatient surgical services, including general surgery, trauma, orthopedics, urology, and colorectal surgery. Collaborating with the on-call surgeon, you’ll evaluate patients, manage urology admissions and bedside procedures (Foley troubleshooting, continuous bladder irrigation), and help board surgical cases when appropriate.

Required procedural skills
Candidates must be proficient in:

• Suturing
• Central line placement
• Arterial line placement
• Chest tube placement

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with trauma and general surgery experience
• Active Michigan license (required)
• Current ACLS and ATLS certifications from the American Heart Association
