Emergency Medicine Physician — Level III Trauma Center in Kennewick (1099, $315/hr, 9-hr Shifts)

Location: Kennewick, WA — serving the Tri-Cities region

Facility:

• Level III Trauma Center
• 21-bed Emergency Department + 6 Fast Track beds, 14 ICU beds
• Annual ED volume: 24,440
• Admission rate: 10.8%; transfer rate: 1.5%

Schedule:

• 9-hour shifts: 5:30 AM–2:30 PM, 1:30 PM–10:30 PM, 9:00 PM–6:00 AM

Team & Coverage:

• 6+ Emergency Medicine physicians and 7.5+ EM APPs
• Physician coverage: 27 hours/day
• APP coverage: 22 hours/day

Imaging, Diagnostics & Support:

• CT in-house; ultrasound available; MRI on-call overnight
• Bedside ultrasound routinely used by EM physicians
• Specialty support: Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology (including cath lab), OB/GYN/Obstetrics, Podiatry

Compensation & Benefits:

• 1099 contract at $315/hour
• Paid malpractice with tail coverage provided

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide evidence-based, patient-centered emergency care for a wide range of acute presentations
• Respond to all floor codes, including neonatal resuscitation
• Perform evaluations, order/interpret diagnostics, and initiate treatment plans
• Use bedside ultrasound per departmental standards
• Collaborate with APPs, hospitalists, specialists, and nursing to optimize patient flow and outcomes
• Complete accurate, timely documentation of all encounters

Requirements:

• ABEM or AOBEM board-certified or board-eligible required
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine–accredited residency preferred
• Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physicians with substantial EM experience will be considered
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, team-based environment
