Locum Night General Surgery/Trauma Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant — Flint, MI

A Level I Trauma Center in Flint, MI seeks a locum APP to provide overnight coverage for inpatient General Surgery and Trauma Surgery. This role is for an experienced surgical NP or PA comfortable in a fast-paced acute care environment managing adult surgical and trauma patients.

Schedule and Setting

• Inpatient General Surgery and Trauma Surgery
• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend coverage required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Typical patient volume: 15–20 patients per shift

Core Responsibilities

• Provide overnight coverage for adult general surgery and trauma patients
• Perform inpatient evaluations, consultations, admissions, follow-ups, and postoperative management
• Monitor patients and respond to changes in condition; escalate and collaborate with attending surgeons and trauma teams
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and coordination with nursing and ancillary services
• Perform bedside procedures and procedural management as clinically indicated
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record

• Management of adult general surgery and trauma patients
• Acute surgical assessment, stabilization, and postoperative care
• Central line insertion
• Chest tube insertion
• Placement and management of vascular access devices

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• Board certified NP or PA
• Active Michigan license
• Current ACLS and ATLS certifications
• COVID-19 vaccination required
