Job Description
Board-certified or board-eligible Emergency Medicine physician needed for a locum tenens assignment in Inverness, Florida. Join a recently renovated, well-supported emergency department that manages a high-acuity adult population in an efficient setting.
Overview
- Annual ED volume: 45,000 visits
- Bed count: 28 private rooms (bariatric-capable)
- Patient mix: Predominantly adult and geriatric; pediatric <6%
- No trauma designation; no OB/GYN coverage
- EMR: Cerner
Coverage
- Physician coverage required: 36 hours/day
- APP coverage: 40 hours/day
Clinical support and resources
- Strong hospitalist team for admissions and inpatient care
- Designated Stroke Center; tele-neurology being implemented
- On-site advanced imaging and specialty support
Requirements
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM)
- Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain
- DEA license
- Experience in high-volume EDs preferred
- Comfortable managing a broad range of emergency presentations in a non-trauma setting
Location
- Inverness, Citrus County: small-town setting with lakes, bike trails, and easy access (≈1 hour) to Tampa and Orlando and Florida’s Gulf Coast.
