Locums Cardiothoracic Surgeon — Board-Certified, High-Acuity 250-Bed Hospital (Springfield, OH)

A full-service, 250-bed acute care hospital in Springfield, OH (60 ICU beds) seeks a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for locum tenens coverage beginning May 28.

Schedule and Assignment

• Start: May 28, 7:00 AM
• Initial commitment: continuous coverage for at least 2 months
• After initial period: ongoing sporadic coverage as needed
• Shift type: 24-hour call coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend coverage: required
• Practice setting: adult patients only, 100% hospital-based
• EMR: Epic

Core Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical coverage for inpatient and perioperative care
• Perform inpatient rounds and manage acute pre- and postoperative care
• Evaluate and manage acute cardiovascular and thoracic surgical conditions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical, ICU, and hospital teams
• Manage ventilator support and acute hemodynamic/volume issues
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic

Required Procedures & Experience

• General cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgery
• Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
• Valvular repair and replacement
• Congenital defect repairs
• Aneurysm repair
• Lung resections, including VATS
• Chest wall and pleural procedures
• Esophageal and diaphragm surgery
• Carotid and renal endarterectomy
• Bronchoscopy
• Ventilation management and acute volume/blood pressure management

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Ohio medical license required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
