Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Willing to Train) - Rapid City, SD

Join a growing neurosurgery team in Rapid City, SD. We seek a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant—experienced or early-career—with a solid clinical foundation and interest in surgical care. Comprehensive training provided.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, treat, and manage neurosurgical patients in hospital and clinic settings
• Conduct hospital rounds, consults, and post-operative follow-ups under neurosurgeon supervision
• First-assist in the operating room for neurosurgical procedures
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures within scope of practice
• Manage clinic care including pre-op, post-op, and conservative management
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, surgical care, and follow-up
• Collaborate with neurosurgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to optimize outcomes
• Accurately document patient encounters and procedures in the EMR
• Participate in shared call rotation

Required qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• Current or eligible for South Dakota license
• BLS and ACLS required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based, hands-on environment

Preferred

• Surgical or neurology/neurosurgery experience (training provided if needed)
