Job Description
Join a growing neurosurgery team in Rapid City, SD. We seek a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant—experienced or early-career—with a solid clinical foundation and interest in surgical care. Comprehensive training provided.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate, treat, and manage neurosurgical patients in hospital and clinic settings
- Conduct hospital rounds, consults, and post-operative follow-ups under neurosurgeon supervision
- First-assist in the operating room for neurosurgical procedures
- Perform and assist with bedside procedures within scope of practice
- Manage clinic care including pre-op, post-op, and conservative management
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, surgical care, and follow-up
- Collaborate with neurosurgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to optimize outcomes
- Accurately document patient encounters and procedures in the EMR
- Participate in shared call rotation
Required qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
- Current or eligible for South Dakota license
- BLS and ACLS required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based, hands-on environment
Preferred
- Surgical or neurology/neurosurgery experience (training provided if needed)
