Locums Emergency Medicine Physician — 12‑hr Shifts, 20k Visits/Year, Englewood FL (Days/Nights/Weekends)

A healthcare facility in Englewood, FL is seeking an experienced, flexible Emergency Medicine physician for a locum tenens assignment. The role requires coverage of day, night, and weekend 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced, patient-centered Emergency Department.

The ED manages approximately 20,000 visits per year and provides continuous 24-hour physician coverage. Support services include phlebotomy during surges, sepsis or stroke alerts, and complex cases, plus advanced imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound) and on-site laboratory resources to aid diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of acute medical conditions in the ED.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective patient care.
• Use imaging and laboratory data to guide clinical decisions and disposition.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation consistent with facility protocols and regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications:

• Board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM), or Family Practice/Internal Medicine with a minimum of two years recent Emergency Medicine experience.
• Active Florida medical license and DEA registration.
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• ACLS and PALS certification highly preferred.
