Job Description

Join a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center in metropolitan Phoenix as a full-time Trauma Surgeon / Surgical Intensivist / Acute Care Surgeon. This immediate opening is best for a fellowship-trained surgeon comfortable in a high-volume, multidisciplinary academic environment providing comprehensive trauma, emergency, and critical care.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care coverage.
  • Manage operative and non-operative care of acute trauma and burn patients.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary trauma team rounds and protocols.
  • Provide intensivist-level critical care in the surgical ICU.
  • Teach and mentor residents and fellows; participate in academic activities.
  • Engage in clinical, translational, or basic science research opportunities.

Reporting structure

  • Report to the Chief of Trauma and the Chair of Surgery.
  • Work within an integrated team of trauma surgeons, critical care staff, and allied professionals.

Required qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of ACGME-accredited general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care (American Board of Surgery).
  • Demonstrated competence in emergency surgery, trauma management, and surgical critical care.
  • Track record of teaching and research engagement.
