Job Description

Full-time locum position in Rapid City, South Dakota, covering inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery with a focus on cranial, spine, and trauma cases. Work in a collaborative surgical environment with OR staff, hospital teams, and neurosurgical specialists.

Compensation

  • $5,000 per shift

Core responsibilities

  • Perform neurosurgical procedures (cranial, spine, trauma)
  • Provide inpatient care: rounding, admissions, post-operative management, discharges
  • Conduct outpatient clinic visits and follow-up
  • Respond to ED and inpatient neurosurgical consults and emergencies
  • Collaborate with neurosurgeons, OR staff, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery
  • Active South Dakota medical license or ability to obtain one
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Strong clinical skills; ability to work independently and in a team
  • Experience in neurosurgery, trauma, or surgical critical care preferred
