Locum MFM Physician — High‑Volume Richmond Role (Level III Nursery, Epic)

Seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician for locum tenens coverage in Richmond, Virginia. This role supports a busy, well-established MFM practice and involves management of high-risk pregnancies in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Clinical overview

• Average scheduled patients per day: 27
• High‑risk pregnancy volume: ~95%
• Nursery level: III
• EMR: Epic, Viewpoint

Primary responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for high‑risk obstetric patients in clinic and hospital settings
• Perform consultations, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing management of complex maternal and fetal conditions
• Collaborate with OB/GYNs, neonatology, nursing, and ancillary teams on care planning
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions for maternal or fetal comorbidities
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the EMR

Core skills and procedures

• Amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
• Cerclage placement preferred
• Management of conditions including preeclampsia/hypertension, multiple gestations, fetal growth restriction, chromosomal/congenital/genetic abnormalities, preterm labor, thrombophilia, and other complex maternal/fetal comorbidities
• Experience with vaginal and cesarean deliveries in high‑risk settings

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine
• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited MFM fellowship
• Active Virginia medical license
• BLS certification
• AIUM certification
