Locum Tenens Pediatrician OnCall 1:3 (Durant, OK) — Travel/Lodging/Malpractice Covered

We’re looking for a board-eligible pediatrician to provide locum tenens inpatient call coverage in Durant, Oklahoma. Coverage begins August 1, 2026 and is ongoing. This is a call-only assignment: 24-hour beeper shifts on a 1:3 rotation with a 30-minute response time.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide on-call coverage for pediatric inpatients, responding within 30 minutes when paged.
• Evaluate and manage acute neonatal and pediatric conditions, including newborn evaluations and ongoing rounding as needed.
• Perform procedures commonly required in this setting: neonatal intubation (ETT/NT), non-invasive ventilation management (neo-puff), UVC/UAC placement, needle decompression for pneumothorax, and other acute airway/ventilation interventions. Chest tube insertion, minor laceration suturing, and circumcisions are preferred skills.
• Coordinate care with nursing and office staff to ensure timely management and documentation.
• Document clinical encounters accurately in Cerner and Athena EMR.

Patient and volume expectations

• Average daily census: about 7 patients per day
• Typical new admissions: ~1 per day
• Rounding responsibilities: both (newborn and pediatric)
• Phone consults: approximately 0.25 per day

Facility and support

• EMR systems: Cerner and Athena
• Support staff: 7 RNs and 2 office staff
• Hospital privileges: not required; temporary privileges are not available

Qualifications

• Board eligible in Pediatrics (BE required)
• Licensed in Oklahoma
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, ABLS
• Fellowship: required
